Wes Wyatt - Day 10 of 90 Day Challenge - The Commute
Welcome to Day 10 of my 90 Day Challenge!
Day 9 is up on YouTube.com and ready to view, rate, and comment on!
In a few more days it’ll officially be Fall! The weather right now is awesome!
Today - my post is about Commuting. You can visit Day 9 on YouTube.com to view, rate, and comment on what I had to say about it. You can also leave a comment right here on my Blog.
Now what about commuting? I wanted to note an article in the September 12th edition of USA Today by Larry Copeland, Haya El Nasser and Paul Overberg. The article is titled - “As commutes begin earlier, new daily routines emerge“- and it’s amazing! In the article - it speaks of the growing need for people to START their daily commutes at or BEFORE 6AM every day!
Another stat I found this week in reference to commuting states that the average commuter spends 38 hours per year commuting! If you figure your career at 40 years - that means you could spend 63 DAY of your life commuting! And not 63 Work Days - but 63 full 24 hour days! How sick is that?
And what that stat doesn’t take into consideration is -not only is commuting taking valuable time away from people - but A LOT of money! Car payments, increased insurance, gas, and upkeep - just to name some of the costs!
It’s absolutely ridiculous!
And if you’re having to leave THAT early to get to work on time - you probably get off early too right? WRONG! Even though YOU take the time to avoid being late with a buffer - most companies could care less about how long it’s going to take you to get home!
Again - ridiculous!
Ever wonder why people can’t stand Monday? Also why most heart attacks occur on Monday too? If you’re in the percentage above - Sunday Night through early Friday Evening is a BLUR! The only time people get to truly enjoy is Friday Night and Saturday. Everything else is just a lead in to another day of chaos!
Now let me put my Devil’s Advocate Hat on for a sec!
That job and the commute that goes with it is YOUR choice! We don’t live in a forced world - but instead a volunteer one.
Am I saying quit your job? NOPE! As a matter of fact - I’d suggest against it until you can replace your current income or better! But…when you’ve leveraged yourself into the position to do so - YES - I’d fire my boss!
Now the hat is off - and here’s the problem I have! The overwhelming majority of people that hate their jobs, need more time with their family, need more money, and/or ALL of the above - won’t do anything to change their situation!
They’re willing to build someone else’s dream and live life around someone else’s schedule - as opposed to making sacrifices to change their own situations!
For more on this - see my post “Too Good To Be True?“.
Working from home - my daily commute is from my house to dropping off the kids at Day Care 2 blocks away and back. To the gym and back - less than 5 miles round trip. And then to Day Care and back at the end of my work day. Needless to say - it’s MUCH different from my days in Corporate America!
One of my primary goals within this 90 Day Challenge and beyond - is to touch, move, and inspire as many people as I can to achieve both Time and Financial Freedom!
If you’re reading this - and you’re ready to do EVERYTHING you need to in order to succeed at working for yourself. Go right to the “Contact” area - and get in touch with me!
On that note - I’m going to wrap it up!
I’ll catch you on Day 11!
Until then - have a DYNAMITE day!
