There seem to be A LOT of challenges popping up out there! 30 Day Challenges, 90 Day Challenges, 100 Day Challenges, and everything in-between!
Completing these challenges can mean everything from receiving prizes to just good ol’ Bragging Rights.
But do you know the REAL Prize from Actively Participating in one?
CONSISTENCY!
If you subscribe to the teachings of The Slight Edge Philosophy – you know it’s:
Doing things that are easy-little disciplines, which, done consistently over time, add up to the biggest accomplishments.
So what these challenges do is prime you for creating habits that raise the bar of what it is you’re looking to accomplish.
Stop wanting INSTANT Gratification and realize that slow and steady wins the race!
The GOOD Habits you form now – compounded by time – will cause you to rise to the top over and over again!

Simplicity is Simple, Consistency is Constant and, as you say it builds momentum leading to success. Thanks for the reminder

Hey Wes
What a wake up call this gave me. I realize now how many excuses I have been making not to join any “challenges” – I’m too busy with my blog, I can’t keep up with networking and continuous learning. This stuff takes up my whole day!
How can I do a challenge when I am treading water? Those are my excuses.
Your blog hit me in my head and made me realize..it’s only time. I can create the time to do a challenge. Just like I create time to be unplugged, work my other businesses, Cook a nutritious meal, etc.
My excuses are habbits too! Just like my excuses of not going to the gym.
I made myself a promise to join a “challenge” group. And at that moment I realized it wasn’t as much as my “excuses” but my “fears” that are holding me back. When you make a choice based on “fear” you are making the wrong one.
I tell this to my clients, so now I have to practice what I preach.
Thanks for the kick in the pants, Donna Merrill

What a powerful message Wes! It really is all about taking small consistent steps every day! I am with you with making a conscious effort every day to not smoke! It is important to celebrate all of the small victories like that to.
Joining challenges are really important. They are important tests of your commitment and determination. You will be amazed by how much you can accomplish when you stick to it and make those small strides.
I am very impressed by your 100 articles in 100 days! You are going to see so much traffic in the next 100 days! Keep ROCKING!

Very good thoughts here. I’m actually participating in a challenge right now. My biggest issue is not having enough hours in the day. But I am going to give it my best. Even if I don’t get the most points in the group, I will know that I competed with myself and won because every day I did something to earn a point(s) it was better than not doing anything at all.

Great post… Consistency is long term and will big much bigger returns than challenges but you need a challenge to start and grow. Remember a body in motion tends to stay in motion with little effort.

So many people today want instant gratification; push a button and all your problems are solved right now. So this part is great: The GOOD Habits you form now – compounded by time – will cause you to rise to the top over and over again!

Wes,
I'm also a big fan of The Slight Edge and agree with you (and Jeff Olson), that every one of us is capable of achieving great success through taking consistent, focused actions over a long period of time. We may not notice the results right away, which is why many give up – but those of us who truly understand and implement this strategy into our lives are creating the futures of our dreams.
Thanks for sharing. You have a great video presence!
