The New York Giants Win Super Bowl XLII
Oh! Did you expect me to start spitting out stats, favorite plays of the game, and whatnot?
Sorry - wrong guy! I’m more Geek than Jock!
With that said - If you had the opportunity to watch Super Bowl XLII - regardless of who you were cheering for - you witnessed an AMAZING game!
Now - if you missed it - not only did you miss a great game - but you also missed some equally great commercials!
And more specifically - some great lessons / insights!
In the beer commercial - you KNOW the brand - you got to see the Dalmatian train the Clydesdale. You HAD to love this one! If for no other reason - it was set to the theme and training montage of Rocky! Lesson learned? Never give up and train with a Running / Workout Partner that pushes you!
On another commercial - we saw a woman at her computer being watched by a slimy boss - and looking like she absolutely hated what she was doing! Her heart jumped out of her chest - walked into her Boss’s Office - and proceeded to tell him, “I Quit!” The Tag Line of the commercial was - “Follow Your Heart”. And then to my dismay - I found out it was for an Online Job Search Site. I find it sickening that trading time for money and working a job could be mentioned in the same breath as following your heart! Working for a living isn’t following your heart! What is? Working for a LOVING! Being your OWN boss - not going to find another one!
And lastly - one the same theme as above - there was the “The Things We Do For Dreams” series. In one - a women walked several blocks each morning (as opposed to paying for transportation) - to save money for her son attending college. In another - a man drove the same car he had in college - because there were more important things in his life than buying a new one (Which was a new baby on the way). Although both touching sentiments - I also found them to be defeating as well. Why? Instead of sacrificing within a situation - doesn’t it make more sense to change the situation?!?
If we’re expected to - Never Give Up, Follow Our Hearts, and Work Towards Our Dreams - why in the world would we want to do it within someone else’s rules?
Stop letting someone else tell you what to do! To be! To DREAM!
Much like the players in the game tonight - you have to endure hard hits, disappointment, fumbles, and decisions that don’t go in your favor!
But you’re on your field - playing a game you love - and doing so with the knowledge that as long as you don’t give up there’s always another chance to put up a WIN!

I totally agree with you about the job searching site ad. As an internet marketer I found it sickening as well. Following your heart is about being an entrepreneur and having freedom, not being a cubicle slave for some company.
