FitRULES | Day 27

Yesterday I tried on a couple shirts that use to be way too small for me.  One of the shirts is still very snug – but the other one was actually roomy on me!

Over the last 27 days – I’ve lost over 11 inches.  I have LOTS of inches to go So I took a picture of myself in the snug shirt to see where I’d be in the coming weeks.

 

Doing this made me think of a football quote by Vince Lombardi, “Football is a game of inches and inches make the champion.

What a POWERFUL quote!

This quote embodies almost any obstacle you’re trying to beat.

Of course in my case – and many of you reading this – I want to LOSE not gain inches.   But want the victories the “inches” represent.

I’ve said over and over again (And will continue to in the future), “…more victories than defeats…”.  That’s what I base everything on.  I’m on a path to a healthy lifestyle – and know I’ll have bumps in the road.  But if and when they occur – the plan is to get right back on the horse and kick ass!

So keep moving the ball and getting (Even if it’s LOSING) those inches!

FitRULES | Day 26

It’s Saturday and the weekend is upon us!

And even though I just told you what day it is – are you still thinking about Friday?

If so, STOP!

Time for old man Wes to step up for a sec.  The older I become – the more and more I realize that worrying and/or getting stuck in the past, is worthless!

“Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today.”- Will Rogers

In addition – most of the stuff you worry about never happens anyway!

Even further – regardless of what’s going to happen, worrying about it won’t make it any easier to resolve anyway!

Recognize what needs to be done, create plans on how to get it done, and take action on your plans!

Everything you do on your journey to being healthier needs to have the same mindset – more victories than defeats.  PERIOD!

If you experience a defeat (For example -more calorie intake than wanted, less exercise than planned, and/or a gain instead of a loss on the scale.) – reset IMMEDIATELY, and get back on goal!

You CAN do it!  Just focus on TODAY!

FitRULES | Day 25

It’s FRIDAY!

For a lot of people – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday represent FREEDOM!

But if you’re trying to stick to a healthy lifestyle – it can be the 3 days of the week with the most temptations.

That freedom might cause you to jump ship on your healthy lifestyle.

“A lot of people are afraid of heights. Not me, I’m afraid of widths.” – Steven Wright

Keep a couple things in mind.

These days are no different than the ones through the work week.  If you passed on the donuts (And you SHOULD have!) people brought in all week – then you can pass up the pizza, chips, and other temptations that pop up on the weekend.

When you’re considering falling off the wagon and having something you KNOW doesn’t align with your new healthy lifestyle – ask yourself the following.  “How many minutes of exercise will I have to do just to make up for this?”  The answer will usually stop temptations dead in their tracks!

When all else fails – and you have chose to indulge.  Go IMMEDIATELY back on your diet!  Don’t wait until Monday, the beginning of the month, or the first of the year (Worst one of all!).  Have an INSTANT reset!  Many times – a cheat or two will shock your system and take you off of a plateau.  But you need to have put in some serious blocking and tackling before reaching that point.

Remember to eat for FUEL – not fun.

Do that and remember why you started in the first place (Better health, to look better, to feel better, to avoid pain, for your kids, for your significant other, etc…)!

Stick to your guns!
