September 11th Flashback
Looking at the date - it’s incredibly hard to believe that 7 years have passed since the 9/11 Attacks.
I remember being on the way to the grocery store and hearing a plane had hit the World Trade Center - and was thinking it was a Tour Plane or something small that would cause minimal damage at best. It wasn’t until I come back out of the store that news of what REALLY happened made its way to the news. People in the Parking Lot were frozen on their Cell Phones. Just then my Cell Phone rang and it was my wife telling me what happened - and asking me to return home immediately.
As I entered our townhouse - the television revealed footage over and over again of the 1st Plane crashing into the building and all the chaos that ensued. Just then on Live TV - the 2nd Plane made impact and then it was terrifyingly obvious that the first plane wasn’t an accident. And when news of the Pentagon Attack and the crash of Flight 93 come through - we couldn’t help but wonder what might come next.
I could go on and on about my memories of that day and the many weeks that followed - but instead I’ll focus on today and the future!
But before I end this post - I would like to recall one last memory and add a call to action.
After the attacks - it was virtually impossible to find a U.S. Flag for purchase. Almost every store was sold out. People had them in their windows (Real and Paper), they were painted in the windows of stores, and represented in all sorts of other ways. We were proud to Americans - and wanting to shout it from the rooftops!
Does anyone else miss that? I DO - and would love to see it come back!
Since that horrible day 7 short years ago:
- My wife and I have been blessed with 2 beautiful children.
- We bought our 1st home - and were able to move home to where we grew-up and where our families are at.
- And much more!
I’m PROUD to be an American!
My thoughts, prayers, and memories are ALWAYS with that day!
