Do you REALLY want to succeed?!?
And keep in mind – I’m talking about knocking the skin off the ball type success! Not taking wimpy swings at the ball in the hopes you might connect. I mean a walk out, plant your feet, and swing for the fence mentality!
Over the last year – I’ve come to love a mentor in my life that embraces the above mentality to the Inth Degree! And that’s the author of “Crush It” – Gary Vaynerchuk. In one of his interviews he spoke about how people aren’t betting on their own sweat equity enough – and how they don’t want to work. Gary’s a guy who will bet on not sleeping and hustling to get what he wants! And if you really want to see someone who loves what they do – and at the same time has a finger on the pulse of what’s going on out there – follow him!
Find a “WHY” – whatever that is to you – and go after whatever it is you love – whatever that is – with a vengence! And do it with the mindset that if you fail – your “WHY” will get taken away from you! With that sort of inspiration – finding the time and desire to succeed should be within reach!

I am looking forward to reading that book. I am going after my ‘WHY’ like my life depended on it. Thanks for pointing this out.

Hey Wes: Start with your what, then your why and your how much. Gary V hits it in the bullseye. Hard work and hustle. Keep your energy flowing with your thoughts

I love Gary Vaynerchuk and his book Crush It! I agree with you that having your WHY is extremely important. You really have to be willing to sacrifice a lot (and like Gary that means sleep for me) in order to do what you need to do. You need a big reason to keep pushing when things get tough and results are slow.
I also believe that your HOW needs to be connected to your WHY. If you are doing what you are doing for the wrong reasons it will never work. You need to do what you are doing because you love doing it, not because you think it will make you rich, or because it will make you famous, or whatever.
Thanks for the great reminder that we need to go for it all the way, without hesitation!

I love people who have the passion you have in your article! I can just “feel” you and that’s what moves mountains! Like Les Brown says “You Gotta Be Hungry”!!
I have recently been tuning in to Gary’s videos, he’s so cool! And I just won the book from the tribe, so I will be excited to read it!
Thank you Wes for your passion and energy!

Kellie

Hey Wes,
Thanks for this simple yet motivational post. I have not read Crush It yet, but have been hearing great things about it; will have to add it to my list!
I find it amazing and troubling how many people simply are not willing to work to create better lives for themselves and their families. Many seem to have an entitlement attitude, and want everything handed to them.
Those of us who recognize the value of hard work, and are willing to make sacrifices in order to fulfill our dreams, are truly blessed in so many ways. I’m happy to add you to my group of friends that “get it”!
