Wes Wyatt - Day 5 of 90 Day Challenge - Perspective
Man did we have a BEAUTIFUL day here in Ohio!
60 Degrees and amazing! The Buckeyes played and WON! And we attended a family reunion - and had a lot of fun! An overall great day!
Today - my posting is all about “Perspective”.
I’ll tell you something that happened at the family reunion today.
I have a 5 and almost 4 year 0ld. After playing hard for a couple hours - my daughter announced she had to use the bathroom. Upon hearing this - her brother chimed in and stated HE needed to go too. Now we’re outside at a park - so there’s only one option - the dreaded Port-A-Potty. Walking into these things is almost always a crap shoot (No pun intended) on what you’re gonna get. They had a handicapped accessible one that was big enough for all 3 of us to go in - so that’s the one we went with. When we got in there - the seat was up and a guy had been in there before us. Now for some unknown reason - when people are in these things their aim isn’t exactly what I’d call a bullseye! So there was cleaning up to do before I’d let my daughter sit down. So once I get everything all cleaned up - I let her know it’s OK (As it’s gonna get…) to go - but to not touch ANYTHING! So a couple minutes pass and the entire time I’m worrying about the clean factor - and my daughter looks up and says, “Daddy - I sure wish I had a horse to ride on!”
Wow! The perspective of a 5 year old is a lot different from that of a 38 year old!
Same less than sanitary Port-A-Potty - totally different mindset, attitude, reaction, and/or perspective!
It’s said that, “Events are 10% what happened and 90% how you react to them.”
Another saying is, “When life gives you lemons - make lemonade.”
I always tell people my blood type and my attitude are the same - B Positive. But I’m also a realist - and need to play Devil’s Advocate for a minute.
To borrow a statement from one of my mentors - Tony Robbins - you can say, “There are no weeds in my garden, there are no weeds in my garden, there are no weeds in my garden - all you want! But if there are - positive thinking and saying it won’t make em’ go away. You still have to take action and pull the weeds”
Are you living the life you want? Or are you settling for the life you have - and justifying it with positive thinking?
Now - I want to clarify yet again that I’m playing Devil’s Advocate. But sometimes tough questions are needed to break people out of a situation.
I have a truly blessed life! I have a beautiful and healthy wife, 2 wonderful children (A boy and a girl - both healthy and happy), we live in the town we both wanted to raise our family in (New Bremen, Ohio), we own our own home and live in a great neighborhood, we have food in our cabinets and clothes on our backs, we have friends and family close-by, and we have lots of love and laughing in our lives! I thank God every night for all of the above and more!
Even with everything mentioned above - I still strive for more. More being defined as - living my own life 100% debt free, being able to take care of my parents and in-laws when they retire, being able to pay for my children’s college, being able to give more money to my church, being able to take my family on dream vacations, having a nest egg, being able to give to charities, helping others, and many other wants.
This 90 Day Challenge was put into place for me to better my life and to put myself on a path towards my goals.
What’s your perspective with where you’re at right now? Unhappy, content, or wanting more? Whatever it is - if it’s not what you REALLY want - take action NOW to change it!
There isn’t a Vlog to go along with today - but you can go to YouTube.com and see what’s there so far.
Catch you on Day 6!
