Calling ALL MAC Users!!! Is There An Easier Way?
This is the first time I’ve done this - so I hope it works!
I’m going to employ the knowledge of both Twitter and Jaiku Users to find out answers to a question I have. And that question is:
Currently when I make a video - I take the following steps:
- I record the video with my Digital Camera.
- I import the video into my non-MAC Laptop with Windows Movie Maker.
- I use Windows Movie Maker to edit the video and add titles on it.
- I use Windows Movie Maker to create an file ready for the web.
It’s very time consuming! If I had a MAC (Specifically the new iMac) - could I trim some of these steps down? Do you find editing video and getting it posted to the web faster with a MAC?
Any and all comments on this would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thank you in advance!

With iMovie you are looking at the same steps, the question comes down to quality of the app. I never played around with Win Movie Maker before so I can’t judge it fairly. Best way is if you have an Apple Store near to you and ask if the sales person if they can demo iMovie for you. Hope this helps. Speaking for myself and the little video stuff I have done on iMovie I really like the transitions, music overlay, titles, etc.

Ah…thanks Rob! I appreciate you responding!
So that opens up a new question within the question…
If you’ve used Windows Movie Maker and iMovie - which one do you prefer? And why?

Doing creative things such as video are so much easier on a Mac…and easier is fast and as Rob said, the quality is so much better. Go for it!

I haven’t actually tried iMovie, and I have used Movie Maker which I found a bit …. busty. Now I have to go and try out iMovie cos I have to have the answer to this myself. I’ll respond when I have more info. Interesting question - thanks for the challenge! =D

Hmm, I use a Mac and FCP for editing but I think it is just the reality of the business that video editing takes time.
